Overview StarView Box or similar

Hey Guys,

I'm new to all this Starview, EuroVox stuff, and was wondering if someone could direct me to somewhere that gives a general overview of these products.

I am moving into a new apartment next month here in the North of Ireland and know that i can get a full sky setup if required (although i feel its too expensive!!), as well as Vigin National (ie freeview channels), but not the Virgin Digital packages (ie. subscription channels such as sky sports etc.) as it is not in a cable area.

I've tried looking all over the web for some beginner's guide to these boxes but can't find anything on a newbie level. I'm pretty tech savvy but today is the first i've ever heard of these products so am keen to find out a little more. If anyone could even PM me to have a private chat about what can and cannot be achieved with these boxes i would really appreciate it.

not 100% but fairly sure you need a live cable feed, satellite is defo out though. not really up on this vermin freeview thing,ie can you get telephone and b/band? if so you may be ok for a cable box..have no fear you will know very soon from this site..ynwa...

hiya m8 i think n3 encryption is coming in in ireland so any non vm box will soon b ~~~~ed till there is a break through with the encryption

@ Boomer - Yeah i can get a phoneline and broadband

when i type my postcode into the virgin media site to see what packages i can get it says:

Your home is not in a Virgin Media cable area so you can't get our fibre-optic cable services, but you can get our National services.

You can get nippy broadband and great value phone packages wherever you live.

I just want some facility to use one of these boxes as an alternative to a subscription with s*y sp*rts and s*t*nt* sp*rts, and if there was a way of tuning into 3pm kick-offs to watch the mighty 'pool on asian tv / star sports or whatever that would be even better but i'm trying to get my head around just what box caters for cable users and if there even is one for satellite users. hi, mate. dont think your on for cable , you need a cable line i,m afraid but as jckw says, things are dodgy in ireland at present but not sure if its all ireland or just eire.
as for live 3pm footy, forget it. these boxes only transmit what vermin show but you can get loads of free stuff via the internet, not missed a lfc game for over 2 years either on my starview or on internet. pm me if you want a list of free websites, cheers, ynwa

Yes caution is advised as boxes are going down in Eire so UK is next for this cutoff,only one still working 100% is Kryptview.

cable tv in n.i is only available in greater belfast and derry as far as i know. saturday 3 pm footie comes with senta ireland available in r.o.i
