What box should i get? please help

    Howdy all,

I hope you can help - i am a nooby to all this stuff and am trying to find out as much as i can about these boxes before i buy. I am currently a sly+ subscriber but hate the company and am on the look out for a cheaper or free alternative. I also have a generic tv aerial comming through my wall where i can get a fuzzy picture of bbc's, itv & channel 4.

What box should i get? Do i need a subscription? What channels are available? Will i need to update software etc on a regular basis? Ideally i would like to have as many channels as possible, european and irish, (rte etc) if poss + all the sky sports movies etc - i would then get a tiiivo or something similiar for recording. I live in sw london.

    Please advise, cheers

e personally i like the eurovoxes
easy to flash with firmware but it a personal choice,to get all vm channels u need a live feed to start, and its best to have a basic package from them,if u want european channels u will have to go with a sat set up,(motorised dish) if u go with cable and get a new box it will nearly all ways need flashing but check first, theres no prob with geting the firmware for them.they do change the firmware from time to time but up to know its not been a prob, theres rumours of vm going to nag3 which has not been cracked so i wouldnt spend to much on a box, have a read in the forums bout the different boxes, then when u get 1 get back to us for any help u might need.

The Blackbox 500s digital satalite reciever then you can use your current dish good machines for very little price or you could go for the starview 4 USB if you have a cable provider i can provide high quality boxes at very good prices direct from uk

if you are in ireland, its probably best to stay away from any cable box mate, they're next to useless over there now

Kryptview is the only "fully" working box in Ireland for the moment.
