starview clone

hi ive got a starview 1 clone n recently it the picture just went off.i reflashed it with the newest firmware n it came bk on for a few mins n then died again.has any1 had this problem b4?
its probably dead as it is an old box

If you flashed it with genuine, (non clone), firmware you will have bricked the bootloader and will have to Jtag it.

Nah mate i used the clone version.it was workin fine then 1 day just stopped workin?if i flash it then it works for few mins again then goes off.it doesnt even turn on.what is jtagging?how do i do it?

If that's the case and you have used the correct firmware, it may well be a capacitor problem then.

Does it show "0" on the display before or just when it goes off?

yes it does.it does 0 at first then random numbers appear
is this a common problem?i mite just bin it

just open it up m8 and check the c11 capacitor on the psu board to see if it is swollen on top.its a five minute job to replace it m8.
you can get a c11 capacitor for about ?1 from maplins m8

ask for this (16V 1000uf capacitor)

the c11 is clearly marked on the powerboard,, after reading the above,, it certainly sounds like a cap prob,,

the c11 is a weak point on the board

i typed in 16V 1000uf capacitor on maplins website but its come up with 6 different 1s how do i know which 1 i need please.i no i sound thick but neva done this before

they wont be updated when we have a firmware change nexttime
