Is it an ex-Starview? Advice please.

    Hi,

I bought a Starview 4 USB about two weeks ago. It has been working fine until this evening ? when I switched it on, I got the standard boot screens on the device (8888 -> 8882 -> b-01) with the logo appearing briefly onscreen. Rather than booting fully, it then turns itself off and goes through the flashing 8888 / 8882 / ---- on the screen.

I've emailed the online store that I bought it from, but their website is showing as under construction (it may be down for maintenance, but I'm not sure).

    Any advice?

    Cheers,

      Thanks for the response

      Hi,

Thanks - I found that one late last night after I calmed down and thought about it for a bit. The Max232 is on order.

I actually did get an email back from the company with the response "you need to JTAG it" (this was the entire response). Is this shi**y enough behaviour for me to name and shame the company? Don't want to get shot down for stepping out of line.

      Cheers,

          Waiting to get it fixed

          Hi,

Was waiting to make sure that the problem could be fixed with a reflash before naming the supplier (just in case I needed a replacement for any other reason). Supplier was Selectronics Online - I see the site is back up and running, and they are still offering the SV4.

          Cheers,
