Have a go with these instructions.
First of all you need 8.04 firmware which you can download from the sticky threads.
Download 8.04 to your desktop .
Open the file you downloaded to desktop. Extract the Bin file to your PC (remember where you saved the files)
Plug you Box into your Pc using Null modem cable. (or USB to 9pin female cable- you will probably need the drivers for the usb. You can find these in the download section)
Click on the 8.04 file you extracted to your pc .When gt rom appears select download.(usually on com 1) Wait till it has fully 100% downloaded.
Once you have flashed the new firmware go into the menu and do a factory reset.
Rescan the box choosing your local cable provider.(N*L etc) Choose english-autoscan
Once the channels have saved, exit out 3 times.
Press menu and then 1570 you will go into another secret menu.
Highlight the default key and press ok.
Then scroll down to the emu and turn it on.
Exit out and put your box onto a S*y sp1
Wait for it to update. This may take a while.
You should be now all up and runningComment

using rs232 cable, have even checked which com port in the device manager, has me stumped.this firmware has obviously worked for countless others!Originally posted by JoKIs the cable you have a NULL modem lead?
What cable setup are you using, just NULL cable or USB adapter?
Have you tried changing the COM settings in the loader?
As I said in an earlier post its a combined loader m8.
