Bad expierience with Starview 4, looking at other boxes

Have had a bad expierience with the Starview 4 USB, allbeit a clone, but generally worried about the Starview 4's reliability.

Does any of the expierienced members have any advice as to the best or most effective box to go for.

I know Satsmo has expierience with most of them, and any advice would be appreicated.

    Cheers

    Luke

It depends on where you live at the moment Luke, if you are in Ireland only a few of the boxes currently have a working fix, if you are in the UK, it's a whole different ballgame.

And after that, a lot of it is down to personal preference.

        I live in the UK.

I would like a healthy mix of reliability, ease of use and quality.

        Cheers

As i said earlier, it really comes down to personal preference, there are lots of different types of boxes and lots of information on each.

You would pick up an sv4 usb or a kryptview for between ?80 and ?90, you'd pay a bit more for an Itgate, but they have more features.

Best thing for you to do is read up on a few different models and decide what you are aiming for, whether price, support, linux based, etc are more important to you and then go from there.

Selectronics Online, as did Spacerat who also has had similar problems, poor post sales service, but is now offering a refund after many many e-mails with no reply, but yet to appear in my account.

Both myself and Spacerat bought the Max232 adapter, but this would not fit into the four pin connector, so not confident genuine parts.

I have used a few boxes and I like the Eurovoxes

But my all time favourite has to be the Nokia DBox2 as you can personalise it to your taste.

Not as straight forward to update as the other boxes though but still the best out there, in my view.
