    3 way splitter

I just got the starview 4 box, when i link it up directly to the 2 way splitter supplied by virgin it works fine. My TV provder is telewest.

When i try to introduce a 3 way splitter put my virgin cable in and try and run my virgin box starview box and internet modem off it I get no signal and no internet connection through the out.

the splitter i have has power pass wrote on all 3 outputs its spec is 5-2400Mz.

Is it possible to have a splitter that doesnt work?? Has anyone else

Is there a certain specification for the 3 way splitter required.

Ive been told i need a splitter so as to run it thru my old virgin box to evade detection?

    Any help please??????????????

sv's cant be detected. forget that idea.
cant see why you need a 3 way splitter. just connect your gen box to modem..that's what i do. no probs..

If you want to still have your Vm box connected I would personally use a 2 way splitter on your Tv cable input and leave the internet connection seperate.
As for VM being able to talk the the box I believe the talkback feature of the vm box allows it to communicate back to vm, its a handshake between them and their box on the network. hey will also no the location of the box and what channel you are watching, and how often you use it.

The talkback feature is also used for the on demand stuff, like movies and boxing.

I would not leave this box off for too long m8. I don't no how they go about monitoring it, it may flag up after a month or a year that it has not seen any talkback from your box.

Vm cannot detect your starview so don't worry about this.

my pc now runs from a modem, vermin have supposedly upgraded my speed so their box would not take it, so they sent me a modem for internet.my sv3 goes into my genuine box via a 2 way splitter and modem connected to gen box. cheers

I believe there are splitters specifically for cable and some splitters do not work on cable. Not to sure how to identify them though. I think B&Q do them
