    Starview 4 General Starting Questions

    Hey Guys

I just set up my new Starview 4 USB last night and have a few questions.

I'm in Northern Ireland and not sure what firmware I should be on? It seems to be that in Ireland use 1.10 and UK use 1.07. Im not sure what firmware the box came with but I can get all the channels - is is worth changing?

I also noticed that a few of the features don't seem to work. The sort and move channels options are froozen in red so I can't access them - any advice? Can you arrange to view the channels much like S*y with sports, movie, news etc grouped?

Also, I haven't got my external USB harddirve yet - im going to follow adivce given here in another thread and get a half decent 320gb model. Will I be able to set to record using the EPG? Serieslink? Does it depend on which firmware I am on?

    I'm grateful for any advice

    Cheers

You do need to update the firmware for everything to work.
For Ireland you need 1.10 ( I think this is for all Ireland but I,m sure someone will let us know if this is incorrect)

    Instructions are here.

Once you have loaded the firmware you will be able to access all the menu's.
You will find all the channels already sorted into categories.
    Example of HDD you require.

      Another Query

      Thanks for the advice khenryashley.

I was in touch with the guy who sold me the box and he suggested that features weren?t available because there was a program on it that automatically updated? Is there firmware that auto updates so that you do not have to flash you box every time a problem comes up?

If the firmware that?s on it is going auto update and mean I don?t have to manually download firmware I might just live with the glitches. Any advice?

I would stick to 1.07 in Northern Ireland. As later firmware updates have a glitch and you cannot record from EPG.
