Ok. My story so far. I got the 8882 error on my sv4. I read all posts etc and took action. I bought a rs2332 interface (usb connection) and downloaded the gt rom loader for sv4. I followed instructions for the download. My computer does recognise the usb connection and its on com 2 with a baud rate of 115200 as specified.
My problem is that when i press download, i get a message from the loader saying "Cannot open com2, Please check com 2". Can anyone help with this as i cannot figure out what i am doing wrong. ??

ls this the way you have it set up?usb to serial rs232 converter to rs232 null modem cable(j-tag) to max 232 interface card.max 232 card plugs into pcb inside set top box,i.e you have to remove cover of box to access this connection.

No. I have removed the cover and connected directly to the jtag (cn1). From the jtag the cable goes to the rs232 interface and then from usb on the other side of the interface to the computer usb. the 8882 error remains and i just get that message "Cannot open com 2". Any suggestions are greatfully received. I do not think i am overlooking anything really simple but i am certainly no expert and only followed instruction with photos from dooby2oon on another site which to be fair were very good.

Thanks for that but i'm using a max232 but where the serial connection would be, i have a usb so am using a usb cable. Thats the only difference i think. The computer recognises the connection and shows it as on com 2 after i have connected it. I wonder if the loader software is for an different model of sv ?? It just says gt rom loader on the zip file.

Hi There, I am seein the same problem, I have tried changing the port numbers, but then the message goes away and I click the Download button and switch the box on and I see no downloading window come up on the computer. Any ideas?
