8882 Error persists after reflash with MAX323

    Hi
Got the 8882 error so invested in the MAX323 interface and a serial cable.
Flashed the box using the tool that comes with the MAX323 to 1.07 but the problem persisted.
Tried again to 1.1 but still the same.
    Any Ideas Welcomed
    Thanks

Try re-downloading the bin files from the forums - I had to reflash about four times before it stuck (it's a cloned box - don't know if that makes a difference). Might also be worth making sure you have no USB drives plugged in.

    Cheers,

as far as i am aware the interface does not fit onto a clone as in different connections and a clone has a heatsink on chip also
did you do as instructed in the tut and power off box correctly before inserting or removing usb drive.

Yes - turned it off for 5 minutes, plugged in and waited for 5 minutes (completely paranoid by this stage) and it still went to 8882 when I turned it on. Had to modify the Max232 with a Stanley knife to get it to fit the cloned box.

i read elsewhere you have to flash with com port not usb port so u need a null modem cable aswell.

I couldn't get the USB / Com adapter working so had to use an old laptop with a serial interface, a 9 pin null modem cable and the modified Max232.

                All,
Im still getting the same problem.
The fash is definately going in as I can see the progress on the laptop and the display on the STB changes as its going on.
                Any advise here welcomed.
Im thinking to try and get the original firmware back and then upgrade vis USB ?
                Any thoughts please ?

Does it say complete when finished? Does the firmware revision info change in system info?

                      Hi Satsmo
It says complete on the tool that came with the MAX323.
Numbers count up on the STB while its in progress but then it just starts rebooting constantly again.
I was wondering if trying the manufacturers Firmware then flashing Via USB might work ?
                      Any thoughts or advice welcomed.
                      Thanks

Sounds like a bootloader problem. When the Max232 load completes are you able to use the USB port at any stage before it reboots?

I was thinking of putting the FTA firmware back on it and you asking your supplier to replace the box for you. Either way if they are a good supplier they will.

Is that firmware available on the forum ? I cant locate it.

If I can get that on there wont that mean I can then load a different one ?

Not sure Ill get a swap out, had it for a few months now.
