Father in law with a dish

Father in law asked about what does he need to receive channels via the dish he has got "old sky dish"

I made the mistake and mentioned that i got all channel via cable and box usb.

So, any help would be good. never messed with sky dish b4.

What do i need and what can he get ?

there is no box for sky like there is for cable is only option is to pay for sky and get them yo put a new dish and box in

no, mate .not sly...get basic vermin package. then get an sv4 or similar box. cheapest way...

Got the starview 4 box bit. But lost me on the other.
Explain if you wouldn't mind, as if i'm thick ! which wont be difficult, b4 you say it.

Devestated after reading your post, I was all set to pop round & sort out
problem, until I realised "dish" was a lump of metal & not his daughter.
Boomer means to pay for basic cable (e.g.V.M./NTL) & get box (SV4?????)
like yours & view all the chls. Any cable box will do, there are many.
If "pops" is a cheapskate & only wants general TV chls. , hook up his sky box to his dish. He will pick up all bbc &itv chls.Ch5, Film4, & many more.
There are over 100 eng. lang. FTA chls. on sky dish.
Search D.D. electronics for full list of Freq. values. as following example;
TRUE MOVIES----11642----V----27.5----2/3
Make sure you have ALL 4 values
On sky menu go to SERVICES--- SYST SET-UP--- ADD CHLS. & enter 4 values & search, when chls.are found tick only chls. required & save. Follow prompts on screen.
You can save up to 50 chls. in OTHER CHLS. list
When chls. are saved Go To SERVICES---OTHER CHLS. to view list
SKY do not allow scroll UP or DOWN chls. while viewing any of these
added chls., You have to Hit services--Other chls. to change chl.
If "pops" finds this cumbersome buy him a FREESAT decoder in place
of sky box.They are fairly cheap & come with 100 chls. preset on ASTRA
28.2 , this is SKY sattelite. You can also scan in many more chls. on
freesat box & use remote to edit CHL. list. I scanned a freesat box for an
old dear lately, it picked up over 3,000 chls.,mostly foreign lang..I had to
delete over 50 blu chls. because she doesn't speak German
