Starview 4 usb CLONES WARNING

Last May i bought a sv4 from a firm called BOXCLEVER on Amazons marketplace only to find that it is a clone, and when the latest version 1.10 software is installed, if it is switched off for any reason (i was doing a factory reset) the unit will never work again. I have sent around six e-mails to this firm and only got one reply that said there was no clones of this model, then dissapeared off Amazons web site. Check yours if it has a silver heatsink on the processor it is a clone.
Amazon are now investigating this dealer,but it is easy for them to start selling again under a new name. I only found out about clones through this excelent website.

A mate of mine got 2 clones from a site called satandcable.co.uk and he's having a bit of bother getting them returned/ refunded. will be speaking to him later to see if there's been any update.

clones will not work in irl on n2.ahhhh update now some channels gone to n3.

I bought 2 boxes from satandcable which turned out to be clones! Just phoned them up & told them I was coming down & wanted a replacement - No problems at all they simply replaced the box. I am Liverpool based mind!

I nearly ordered one from the same company, but your post saved the wasted purchase. I'm on vrjjjin in Warrington and trying to decide between the Starview and Eurovox. Any recommendations?

Anyone know a legit retailer of real boxes?

Thanks, is eBay to best place to find such a person? Also how would you rate the Dbox v the Star View or Eurovox.

No you won't get them on ebay, plenty of irish people around the forums though. I don't know what box you would prefer, it's a matter of personal taste really, just read up on them in the forums and see whats available.

try dvbjunkieuk.com. good reputation. software may be pre-loaded. only ever used sv's but i would stick with them for now, but would like to try others, wife permitting!!!

whats the dif between a clone and genuine sv4 box i know you said heatsink but whats that

It is a square metallic block over the main CPU. It is used to dissipate heat from the CPU. Clones use inferior parts hence the need for it.
