8882 error? how fatal is this?

Hi all,

Basically bought a new SV4 box. Loaded the 1.12 fw on. When I turn the box on, the display says 8888 then 8882 then b. something something

but then the box comes on normally. The only problem is after I've gone through the whole process of auto scan, secret menu etc etc and I go to s*y sports 1 eventually and wait for it to scan, it doesn't scan...

nothing happens, it just stays on that channel. all of the premium channels are there but none work, no audio or video, only bbc1 and terrestrial channels work.

I am located in leicester. am i correct in saying this is ntl area?

also, should i be worried about those 8888/8882 messages? and does anyone know what else i am doing wrong? i haven't tried the 1.07 fw but i will be doing so tomorrow. just worried about those 8888/8882 messages.

thought i'd done the box when 8882 came up on my sv4 usb
It took a while to sorce the info and bits i needed but the 8882 is fixable using these bits listed below... (Should you ever need it)

Also i've been advised to stick with V1.07 as this has very few bugs and clone boxes won't work with the later firmware as its not written for them.


You'll need to get a 8882 fix adapter kit bud

Tailor made circuits (on line) sell the 8882 fix adapter (?15)
maplins sell the null modem lead (?10) however they are cheaper on line if you don't mind waiting for delivery.
you will need to get a
usb - com port converter from maplins (?4) if you don't have a com port on your lappers or pc.

Follow the instructions that come with the 8882 adapter and you should be fine, No promisses but its worked for me.

why have starview said to use this firmware 1.12 in uk and irl to stop boxes from dieing.
