Has any one written up an appraisal of the Starview 5 yet ? Is it worth the extra 25 squids for a pause/rewind function, or is it significantly improved on the SV-4 ? Thinking of having another Starview and wondering which to go for; older cheaper
or later for 20% more cost ? Comments welcomed

Just upgraded from Starview 2 to Starview 5. A vast improvement - the EPG works, the pause and record functions work, and the picture quality is much better. No idea how it compares to Starview 4 but I am very happy with it so far.

Just a possibiltie of what the box can do.

I do not condone the use of these box's to illegaly recieve cable..

just a quick guide on how to get SV5 up and running

1st i recomend doing a auto install before installing the usb or software make sure you choose your corect area cable provider, eg NThell...

Once your box has scanned and installed all your channels then its time to install the software wich can be fount in the download section.

Once you have the software copy it to a formated usb memory stick...

Now you have the software on your stick, Make sure your box is turned of and install the memory stick into the back of the box. Turn on your SV5 and go to USB select the firmware and let the box do its magic.

Once installed and rebooted you will have to access the hidden menu for this press "menu" then "1,5.7.0" go to key and select "on" now exit and go to any one of the pay for channels let the box update and hay presto your away...

also fount out that the record function works for programes selected through the epg..A vast inprovment from SV4 and to me it seems to be less glitch free also...

I tried to install version 12 on my super usb and I think that it got the same message, not of this IRD. Its working ok on version 1.07 though.
