How to play SV4 recorded files on the PC

    Hi All,

I have a Starview 4 and have just purchased a 16gb flash drive and tested the time and pvr functions. It works a treat I am happy to say. The box turned itself on to the correct channel and started to record and when finished stopped recording and turned off again.

I now have a 16gb drive with the CH Data Backup and Code Backup folders along with 2 files with the same name but one with the .idx extension and the other with the .ts extension.

On my PC I have just about every codec there is and have tried to play the .ts (MPEG 2 I believe) in Media Player, MPlayer Classic and VLC. Additionally I have tried to recode the file with Nero Recode and also analyze the file with G-Spot codec tool. Nothing will render the file however.

Can someone please let me know if there is a way to do this so that I can keep this recording or even transfer it to a DVD or some such.

    Many thanks in advance

      Hello beartiger,

I have had fun and games trying to do the same. Admittedly, I have not tried GOM even though it was suggested to me. The ony program I got to work with the TS files was Media Player (classic) which you get with the K-lite codec pack, though you do initially get an error.

After a bit of searching, I ended up downloading TS DOCTOR. After repairing a copy of the TS file, I can now watch it through any of the media players I have. Though the repaire is not slow it can take some time. Also, as it makes a copy of the source file, you wll need a few Gigs to play with.

      I hope this helps.
