    firmware ..how often?

hi, im getting a starview 4 this weekend and on reading through the site have seen firmware mentioned alot, i get the gist of what the firmwares are for but my question is how often they need to be applied ,is it every time that the box goes down? if so, what is the average length of time the box will stay on before i would need to update the firmware?.

i have a friend at work that has told me that the boxes go down frequently ie weekly/monthly and it can be difficult to update the boxes and fiddly to get the channels back.

sorry to waffle and ask what is probably a nub question.
but any info would be greatly appreciated

    thanks

Dont worry yourself m8. Peeps have only "needed" a new firmware twice in the last 2 years.
