Starview 1 muted channels and crap EPG

    Hi all,

I was wondering if someone could offer some help please.

Basically I have a starview 1 box which has been in use for over a year now. For quite a while, some of the channels have had no sound. We've learned to live with this until I recently came across this forum so I decided to purchase a null modem cable, the adaptor because I don't have rf232 on my laptop and I just uploaded the latest firmware, did another automatic scan, did the emu on thing but not much has changed. Those same channels are still missing sound.

As well as the audio problem, the EPG has always been pretty crap, sometimes it appears, but most of the time there is never any EPG. It is really slow aswell. Anyone have any idea why this is? The date and time are correct.

Would absolutely love some help as this problem is really bugging me now. There are no splitters involved in the connection and cable connections are all OK too, FYI.

    Many thanks,

try preesing the audio button and and press either nar or english. or you could try a manual scan for each of those channels.

If I do a factory reset, do I have to upload firmware or anything like that again? What does a factory reset actually do?

When I press the audio button on the remote when on a channel with no sound. A small box appears in the bottom right corner and I can only press the right and left arrows to toggle the options but nothing changes.

I've had a mess about with the scart leads and I don't think they are the root of the problem.

Many thanks for your replies guys.

no you dont have to upload f/w again m8. rescan your box.
            menu factory settings 0000
            auto scan
then exit out to main menu then hit 1570
            and turn emu on
            then exit out to tv....
