jtag a starview 4 box

hi all im looking to jtag a starview 4 box. im in the telepest area. what do i need.

and what do they mean by jtag?

jtag is a serial lead that connects to your pc (21 pin on 1 side & 4 on the other, I think) you can make it yourself or buy it off fleabay. have a look in download section or do a search, theres a diagram of how to make 1 somewhere I've seen it but just cant remember.

i got more info of the person who has the box it came up saying this is not a valid box so so turned it off .then it would not come back on. something to do with the firmware.

could i just reflash it and thats it i have usb to serial lead.?

she emailed to say that someone told her that if she jtag it it would sort it?

The first link is the correct one so use that one. Your second link although a Max232 also is for modems and has a different wiring pin out.
