starview 5 problems!!

Hi, This is first post and first cable box so be gentle
I have just set up my SV5 box with latest firmware, I have followed earlier posts to the letter but I still only have FTA channels. I have been into secret menu and switched on keycode but when I use the auto scan it only picks up 54 channels of FTA. Can anyone please help it driving me mad. Thanks in advance.

Make sure you have the correct service provider selected

Not sure what you mean by "reset default keys" and as for service provider if you mean at the auto scan stage then yes I selected virmin, but still only FTA channels. I have been back in and pressed the set default key but still nothing?

Sorry I thought virmin and NTL were one and the same, I selected NTL and it only finds 54 channels which I can watch. Me and a mate bought two boxes together he is getting exactly the same thing at his house and he has also been round to a mate of his who gets all the channels no problem but when he puts his box in line only 54 FTA can be found on his box? I have tried it with splitter and direct both are the same.

Try selecting other providers then autoscan on that,

i would factory reset first to start from fresh 0000 to delete,remove any splitters as you need the strongest feed,auto scan your provider,you should see a list of named channels for tv and radio,tv101 may be wrong provider if you see numbers not names,then menu1570 set default key and keycode to on and exit out to a sly channel.
what firmware is on your box go to system info and say and what is your general area.

I have done factory default 0000 then scanned N*L, the list came up as you said tv and radio with names tv101 is BBC1. I have pressed the set default key (it does'nt give option for on and off) and I have set keycode to on. I have got MUTV is this premium? System info is Model C531, S/W version 2.03, Boot version B-21, Date Sept 23 09. I am in the midlands area. I cant remember which tut I used for original set up. The BBC1 England I am getting is not for midlands but london?

Should you not be scanning on TW ??

try xc/w if its on. in s/manchester,scanning with nthell gets nowt, scanning with t/pest or xc/w gets them all,.re bbc local news, wait for news to come on them press menu, channel edit, then delete bbc london. may revert to n/west news so may have to repeat.
