Down load on Starview 2 box stays at 0%

Sorry for being such a novice but when I switch my box on it shows on for 2 seconds then displays 0284. When i try dowloading the software is opens the down load bar but sticks at 0%.

Any advice would be appreciated.

when you press download wait a few seconds then turn your box on from the back. it may take a few goes but should sort you out m8.

Thanks for responding but no joy. I've just reset factory setting and now get the "on" appearing on the box. I get the impression my pc doesn't recognise the box. Do I need a driver for the usb to RS-232c that i bought?
