Starview The Box 11

Purchased a Starview Box and tried to download the firmware with a memory stick, it froze then the 8882 code comes up.
Then i got a j tag to download straight from computer but when i press the download box nothing happens. Has anyone had this problem?

You cannot jtag this box I presume its the latest Starview. Take a look at this thread http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...roblems-66952/ the poster had the same problem as you.

Thanks, Being a novice to this how do i try and flash it again ?

As I said on the other thread it is by no means a gaurantee that it will work. I kept at it for quite a while and only got one or two going again.

I would try your supplier first to see if they will replace it.

I cant understand why Starview make boxes that can be flashed using a usb stick/drive but seem to be liable to fail so easliy and brick the box..

Why market it with a usb flashing ability when it runs into so many probs flashing.. I read a good deal of threads on different boards before flashing my mates SV5 and there were loads of people left with bricked boxes after trying a basic usb flash

Why not atleast keep a serial port on back too for flashing FW's

and the funny thing is digivox usb made in same factory has a serial port

I've got starviews 1 , 2 and 3 and considered a 4 usb .
They were reported to be the best thing since sliced bread !
Having read so many posts of starview 4 +5 's being either useless clones or hard to flash rubbish , i'm glad i stuck with my oldie's .

reading up on any box you want to buy,always check the amount of posts with problems and fixes or lack of as it can give you a lot of info before you buy.
also the problems of getting your box updated as people have vista and laptops which are a right pain to get working,pc with xp and serial port was made for updating boxes.
