    staview playback issues

    Hi,

Very nice forum been reading for a while

I have a starview 4 and a starview 5 and both have a annoying issue with recordings

I have tried various firmwares , hard- drives and pen drives on both boxes and the same thing always happens. The boxes always record ok and playback ok.

The problem is if i fast forward or rewind a recording (ie- adverts) the recording will randomly freeze with a pixellated green screen and i have no choice to turn the box on-off.

I have also formatted the drives on the pc, and the boxes and no joy.

I have searched the foums but cannot see a simaler problem or a fix.I would like to know if anyone else is experiencing this.

I like all other aspects of the box, just wish i could stop this problem happening.

    SV4 freezes on fastforward

    Hi there,

Have had SV4 for about five months now, i have experienced the same problems on a few occasions. As of yet i have not managed to fix it, but as i said it only happens occasionally, so have just learnt to grin and bear it.
Just think on the bright side, where getting all these channels for nowt...

    See ya

    Simon.

yes, thats true mate. The thing is if a lot of people are getting the same problem hopefully it will get looked at in the next firmware version.

Maybe there is a hardrive out there thats working fine with no issues.

I am just trying to find the cause, if its bug in software ill just wait till a better one arrives, if its case of a specific hardrive that works well then i will buy one once i know which one that is.

ive heard it can be down to the HDD and last year when i first got the SV4 it was recommended to get the western digital 250gb HHD as this one has less problems.
