Just bought S/V 5 Having a winrar problem... Help!!!

Hi just bought a starview 5, i have downloaded the firmware for it and have winrar, i am uncertain what to do now, i have tried to extract the files, the download is 973kb, when i extract it with winrar it goes down to 972kb with a winrar sign by it, what do i do? I dont wanna put the wrong file on my starview 5, please help, im gagging to get this going, just spent me 2 weeks dole money on this box!!! Help/!! YNWA.

P.s, I have searched for half hour on here but cant find any guide, I did find one tother day but cant find it now.

m8 i have a sv 4 myself but i ve just looked at the red stickies for the s v 5 and the file u download on there ends in bin ...meaning binary ...there s no need to un wrap binary files m8 u just download to a usb stick......files endin in rar or zip are compressed files which need openin with winrar....hopes this helps

Right, So just stick the bin file on the usb stick and follow instructions, Its on the stick now and showing its 794kb in size, also i just tried to view the tutorial and this winrar is coming up, I cant unzip the tut.#??

...... i d double check to see if ur firmware ends in bin if it does no need to open with winrar just put on stick.....
the tutorial is a rar file so neesd winrar to open it but i ve open it for yer and copied it hope this is ok ,dessert dog?

1. Plug in the box and connect the cables
2.Format a usb stick in pc to fat32
3.Copy the firmware onto the stick via the PC.
4 Switch your box off completely and insert the usb in the rear socket.
5.Switch on the box wait for it to boot up.
6.Press menu and scroll to usb press ok
7.The firmware should start to transfer from the usb to the box.
8.Once this has done hit menu and key in 1570 with the remote.
this will bring up the secret menu hi light keycode and change it to on.
9.You should now be set to scan go into menu and select installation,choose automatic scan press ok then choose your provider hit ok again.
You should now get all channels your after.
If by any chance you dont get the channels try a different provider

the file you need will look same as the one with the arrow when on memory stick m8 and thats the file needed for that box

Right, Its all clear now but i now have another problem, I have put the bin file on the usb and put it in the box, booted it up etc.. got to usb menu and its saying there is the bin file on the stick and two other files from 2007, some kind of code files, i have just deleted my g/f's work off the stick and formatted it so it should be clean, Any suggestions guys? I havent uploaded anything onto the box yet.... Also thanks for the help fellas.

SCRATCH!!!! Got them all... Dont know what those files were but uploaded the bin file only to the box and all channels got have I..!!!!!! Cheers people, 2 wekks now, no money....!! Only messing. Btw, I got this from satandcable Liverpool..... ?90.
