starview 1 not updating

hi can anybody help ive got a starview 1 box off a guy in ireland and i live in london ive done a scan and it seems to have found the channels(not in order tho)ive done the 1570 trick turned on the emu but it gets stuck on the updating part and then the box freezes anyone got any ideas.

press the default key then rescan. are you scanning right provider. scan without any splitters only from main feed.

yeah done all that and still the same i done the same process with a starview 3 yesterday and it works perfect with all channels in order(got the starview 3 from london) do i have to do a factory reset coz its been working in ireland and im in london.thanks

if its freezing continous ,looka like overheating thats why it freezes ,this common fault on sv1 boxes ,u may need nother power board off fleebay.

thanks tezza i might start from scratch on this 1 how do i put the software on the box all i have is the lead to connect box to pc

This wa sposted by Smirnof_rules ,latest files can be found at top of forum in Red -
1. Plug starview in at the mains;
2. Plug in null modem cable and join up box with
PC using COM port on PC (there is only one socket for
this on the starview you cant go wrong);
3. Open up GTRom loader or whatever sofwtare you have
for loading image on the box.
4. Click on "BIN File" on GTRom and load the
Auto update BIN File file that you have
(which I assume you have downloaded from here).
5. Now click download button and you sill se the
file being downloaded.
6. Once complete a mssage will apppears saying
something like "download successful".
7.Ideally you should try and get a bin file channel
list for your area and load this as well it will save a lot of time.
8. Alterantively, plug box in and press Menu on
remote, installation, choose your cable provider,
then move don to automatic scan and press ok.
9. Once all channels have been found press exit back to TV screen.
10. Now press menu, parental control, press ok.
Now press i then 2004. Move down to Key Emu and change option
to on. Press ok , then exit back to TV Screen.
11. Go to scrambled channel and wait on keys updating.
12 That should be you.

yes you have to factory reset first as it is a new provider,remember no splitters when you scan and emu to on,menu1570 key emu to on and do a set default key as well and exit out,sv1 where a bugger to get updated as you needed a strong signal to get it to start updating,if it does not move try another channel or by powering off at back and then on can sometimes work.

thanks tezza your guide looks pretty straight forward ive now tried connecting the box to the pc and it aint showing me its connected the lead is in the right ports any ideas

have you tried post 7 first as you may not have to flash it??

yeah mate loads of times it keeps getting stuck on different % on the update screen i done a sv3 a couple of days ago with no probs and a sv5 this morning with no probs i got the box from ireland and the channels aint in order do you think that could be the problem it seems to have the right software on it

there should be no irish channels on it because you need to start afresh with a new provider and yes channels over the place.what firmware is on box,to check go to system info and report back.
