Is there any value in buying a new box

I bricked my old Starview 1 but thats another story..

I was looking at getting a new one SV5 or whatever. But it now sounds like theres no point (especailly as they are ?85 a go)

With VM introducing new encryption is there any point at all having any type of box if your on VM other than to get free to air which I can get with a freeview box for a tenner.

Finally does anyone think this will reduce prices of these boxes as if its as bad as it seems to be they are only now comparable to a freeview box.

if you get 2, or 3 months out of it, you've made your money... if you look at it that way, not that I would ever pay for a full package. Would still be a nice box, especially with the recording side of things.

?85 aint bad tho.. and you will get a lot of months viewing of premium channels IF N3 comes in. And a recorder to boot... and boot it he will if N3 comes in.

in some areas they have switched to n3=lost channels and no fix as of yet.
