Starview 1 is this now a paperweight ??

I updated my SV1 with the Box (the info I was given inferred it would work on SV1)

All I now get when connected is a '-' on the LED and the Box screen on the TV - none of the buttons or Remote work. I have tried using the R32 cable to reload old software but doesnt want to play.

Im sure Im not the first but before I chuck it - is there anything I can do with this to get it back to a working unit.

reflash with sv1 firmware, not the box firmware,as all firmware is made for each box and is not interchangeable doing so may brick it.

Starview 1 Flash update fail - helppp...

Tried to load the Crypstar 1.5 Core 400 for real SV) with the GT Rom v 4.00 but all I get is 'Flash update fail' retry doesnt work nor does switch off and on and retrying.

Is their anything else I can try or is it time to aim the box at the bin.....

Yessss almost as good as a free pint.well better actually..

Big thanks (posted) to Satmso as an old post gave advice:

'Turn the box off from the back switch, hit download on Gtromloader, wait a few seconds and power up the box.'

And its worked - Ive just reinstalled and am up and running.

Moral of the story is dont give up - I nearly did and read the posts here as somone has probably had the same or similar issue in the past.

          Thanks

I used the GT Rom 4.00 and Crypstar 1.5 (400 for genuine Starview box not 275 for clones)

But the key for me was the running of the download before I switched the box back on. Dont know if your issue is the same as mine as Id installed the wrong ver of software and thougt Id bricked it.

I ran the download then gave it 5-10 secs and switched the SV on let it do its thing and after about 5 minutes it loaded.

Like I said Im not sure your prob is the same.

correct identification important does it say starview on front, and have you used the null modem cable before for flashing.

everybody is mad for flashing ,have you tried a factory reset 0000 to delete, auto scan your provider having removed any splitters first, and emu to on,and set default key also and exit out.
