Formatting Starview 5 with 500gb Hardrive

Hi, Can anybody tell me how long it takes to Format a 500gb external hardrive to a Starview 5...mine has taken over 24 hrs and still shows no signs of stopping?, can I by pass it, as the hardrive is brand new?

I hope you selected fat32 ?
I have no idea how long it would take i use a 30gig and that took about 10mins. If your running Vista you cannot format a 500gig without special software thats in the PC downloads its called Fat32Formatter if your using xp then you should be ok.

Thanks DESSERTDOG, I let it go nearly 36 hrs and gave up, I think the 500gb is to much for the Starview to handle, I've read somewhere that if I partitian the Hardrive then that works...but that brings its own set of problems!!
I'll let you know if this works...cheers!!!

Dessertdog you are a God!!! dowloaded a Fat32Formatter and formatted my hardrive in about 5 seconds, linked it back to the Starview and it works like a dream...!!!! You just saved me the cost of a divorvce (as the wife was nagging me about me fiddling with the box) Thanks again mate!!!
