is there a way of fixing the 8882 error on the starview 5?

i don't think so mate. I had to send mine back to my supplier then wait 3 weeks for a replacement.
Still haven't set up the new box yet

depends on your warranty, if bought from ebay, most sellers will not replace, because this problem is self caused, inserting or removing usb while unit is switched on.

No, apart from the timescale i got a new box. they were a bit frosty on the phone though and personally i wouldn't use them again but they did replace the unit.
