Starview cable/sat hd box confused........

I bought a swtarview satallite/cable hd set top box yesterday,and it came today.Im confused,i scanned for cable channels,of which aprox 271 came through channels that is,but i can only view free 2 air channels.How do i unscramble all the others,thought it was done automatic. Im new 2 this,do i need some software or plug in code...? Can anybody explain in English how to view sky movie channels ect...thanks ste manc

sv on the cable side is down, has been for couple of weeks now, dont know how to set up on the sat side, as i only have sv7 cable
