Slightly Confused :S pls help!

Firstly....MERRY CHRISTMAS every1!,

I got a starview 5 recently, and thanks to this site and the tuts in here ive got around how to get the channels, what im confused about is that a friend of mine has an older theboxSuper box(its silver, a couple of years old and paid someone to do it for him) and has all the channels, ive connected my one the same way he has and i only get some / half of the channels. BUT....when i connect my starview without the splitter i get loads of channels.

anyone know why he gets all the channels with the splitter and i dont? is the splitter a problem? and is there a way around it?

btw we both got the same VirginMedia cable.

take the splitter out before you scan for channels, once you have them all put the splitter back that usually does the trick

Please be patient. Maybe everyone has a hangover.
always scan your box without the splitter.
The channels will still be there after you fit your splitter
