Help Starview The Box PVR not updating

I have been trying to help update my friend's box since he lost all channels a few days again. I have searched many posts and forums but am stuck now. He is in W. London area.

The things I have tried are:
factory reset
auto scan (TW) (get all channels)
secret menu (i2007) - select TW and turn AutoUpdate on
exit out to a $ channel.
Message says 'INFO-Wait for picture...(1%)' but is stuck on 1%.

Firmware is from 15Oct2007. Tried other firmware too but to no avail.

Not sure what else I can do on this. Has anybody any ideas?

try using the december 21 2008 fw and all should be ok and auto update again.

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, using that f/w did not make any difference. I am not sure what is wrong.

Latest firmware onto the PVR TheBoxPVR_v3105_08Dec2008.bin or StarViewPVR-21122008.bin , secret menu make sure emu is on, and make sure key code in other menu is switched to on.
