    Starview box scanning

Tried normal scanning and only got 12 random channels , eventually got them all back , For the starview boxs , do a factory restore , go to advanced scan change start frequency to 218000 and end to 750000 now set your area frequency (6887 notts) then scan , all the channels should now come back ok , turn emu back on when finished.

hopefully this might help some who cannot get all channels back....

can't seem to get mine to work, its a starview pvr.
I have done a factory reset, then gone to the installation, ran Auto scan and it picked up 55 channels with no name.. TV10, TV2121, etc.

In advanced I cannot change the start frequency or end frequency,
Append signal is 6900... below is a search for 6900, none, none

I am Notts area, so I need 6887 I cannot see anywhare how to get that.

I have never had any problems scanning b4. Usually just in Auto.

I have another Starview 2, and that is fine, re-scanned no bother at all.

You need to udate to v1.12 firmware, then rescan not forgetting to turn our key code on.

            Hi and welcome to DK

what model of box do you have
where in the country are you (nearest big town)
did you do a factory default reset and scan on the correct symbolrate

if your remote is ok and it won't input values try removing power from box for a couple of minutes
you could also try reflashing firmware

have had no experience with this box but is the append symbol the symbolrate

                the box pvr

                Hi Smoggy,
                The boxpvr
It scans in Auto on 6887, which is right for Notts, but it only picks up, now a hundred channels all TV1203, TV1204 etc.
Pretty much all of them are blocky or dont work at all
I cant change any frequencies to scan as ssomeone suggested.

The sv2 on the other hand is running fine.

I have rescanned again downstairs where the sv2 is, and still the same..
Might have to try reflash if I remember how.

you are showing symptoms of a signal strength issue, check all your connections and try scanning directly off the cable feed ie no splitters etc.

I would have thought you would be able to input start and stop frequency however you could also try manual scan where you should be able to input a frequency one at a time

wasting your time inputting frequencies as they are changing all the time, factory reset, auto scan from direct feed only keycode enable/or emu to on exit out.

I have Auto, Manual, and Advanced modes of scanning... I have tried them all, and i cannot input frequencies in any of them.. I must have had this box over 2 years, maybe 3, and I have never had probs scanning. As I say the funny thing is, the sv 2 has no problems.
I am actually scanning just the other side of a splitter, I have no choice, I have sunk it into the wall, but made sure all feeds are dead other than what I am scanning.
Thanks for taking time out to reply guys. Don't worry, the writing is on the wall for these boxes.. I was just trying to coax a few more miles outta this.

You still need to factory reset as said above.

Is it the old dual tuner model?

                          yes sir, the dual tuner.
                          Done the factory reset
done every available scan method too, Auto.. Advanced, and Manual...
Also tried all the service providers, even tho NTL is the one.

i had one of these pvr once and kept these instuctions for it just incase you want to try reflash
                            Serial Download
                            1) Connect PC & STB with Serial Cable
                            2) Off & On with A/C Power on the rear panel.
                            3) Once display ‘ on ’ on the front panel,
                            Press ‘ OK->Exit->OK->Exit->OK->Exit ’ on the RCU.
                            4) Display ‘B-30 or B-31’ ( ready to download message ) on the front panel.
                            5) Access the PVR Loader and then select the firmware bin file.
                            6) Download.
                            7) Wait to complete and Reboot.

Press Menu , parental control , then Info + 2007 and you should now see the EMU and make sure its ON. Exit to Sly Sports and let it update.

Which firmware version are you using, it will tell you in system info.

As you said the SV2 is fine after a rescan and the pvr is getting some channels but they are not locking onto some TPs it may be worth trying another earlier fw. The tuner drivers differ so that could be the cause. Hopefully the tuner is OK.

From memory there is no AU firmware, (I am not 100% sure), for the older PVR so I presume you are using manual code entry in the CAS menu?

If you need any firmware version please let me know. I will upload whatever you require.

You can also update via USB:

                              USB Download

                              1) Connect PC & STB with USB Cable
                              2) Main Menu-> Select ‘HDD Mode Change PVR’-> Press ‘0000’ on the RCU
( Showed ‘HDD Mode Change PC’ )
                              3) In PC
                              a) Showed new Local Disk on the PC ( ‘F:W’ or ‘E:W’ )
                              b) Copy new Firmware in the Local Disk.
                              4) Remove the USB Cable
                              5) Main Menu-> Select “HDD Mode Change PC”-> Press “0000” on the RCU
Once “HDD Mode Change PVR”, STB is automatically re-boot.
                              6) Main Menu-> ‘Select HDD Interface’ ->’Select Upgrade from HDD’
Select ‘new firmware -> Press ‘0000’ on the RCU
                              7) Automatically upgraded & re-boot.
