starview usb 2 - $ sign against channels

Hi

I've followed all the instructions as mentioned by Dessetdog which are as follows :
Plug in the box and connect the cables
2.Format a usb stick in pc to fat32
3.Copy the firmware onto the stick via the PC.
4 Switch your box off completely and insert the usb in the rear socket.
5.Switch on the box wait for it to boot up.
6.Press menu and scroll to usb press ok
7.The firmware should start to transfer from the usb to the box.
8.Once this has done hit menu and key in 1570 with the remote.
this will bring up the secret menu hi light keycode and change it to on.
9.You should now be set to scan go into menu and select installation,choose automatic scan press ok then choose your provider hit ok again.
You should now get all channels your after.
If by any chance you dont get the channels try a different provider.

I'm still not getting to view the channels with $ sign. A black screen is displayed.

Can you please help on this.

Go into the CAS menu and click on set default key

exit 3 times and wait for code to update

if that doesnt work then please post back and let me know which firmware you have installed.

on somebody's suggestion i downloaded the firmware - Theboxsuperusb2_v2.03.20090923.bin directly onto the USB stick.

restored factory settings - powered off the box.
plugged in the usb stick with firmware
clicked Menu/USB
clicked on the bin file>>selected data restore option, clciked Yes button.......now i'm getting a message "it is not a file of this IRD"..

please help.

right before you even proceed any further... could you please check on the fron LCD panel where the LCD display is located... and tell me the exact name which says on there of your box

you seem like you trying to flash a wrong file on your box and that will brick the box dude

so verify again and get back to us.

When flashing make sure the USB pen drive file system is fat 32 and that its empty.

it also means your box is not flashed properly and means that you still have a FTA firmware on there.

Also note that you should never never never plug your pen drive in when the box is swicthed on... Always plug it in when its switched off.

the name on the front of the box is "TheBox USB II"

i had formatted the usb stick and file system is FAT32. the pen drive has the *.bin file only.

I had plugged in the pen drive before i powered on the box.

as suggested - how do i flash out any firmware on the box?

you cant flash it out... u can only over write it.

plug that USB stick in the box while the box is switched off

and then switch it on

and folow the instructions which u followed previously

after the flash has finished

you will need to rescan the box

and make sure u turn the Key code by typing in 1570 which will enable you to access the CAS menu.

do i turn on the keycode now or after i do autoscan...

yes once the scanning is completed switch on the Key code and 'click on set default key''

exit 3 times

go to a $ channel and wait for code to update

if it works u can transfer 1000 quid to my current account...
