Hi everyone I am a newbie! Just needed some advise plz if anyone can help.

The softaware on my starview 5 usb 2 is from sept 2009. Is there a newer one coz alot of my channels arent working???

check if the keycode is switched on

menu > 1570 > turn key code on > set default key

exit 3 times

go to a $ channel and wait for code to update... if you dont see it at first then flick channels in quick sucess.

Thankyou for the advice but unfortunatly the channels are still blank. Have I got the latest software?

U have the latest software dude thats not a problem and doesnt need flashing from what you posted.

Rescan the box and see if that solves it

and secondly double make sure that you have the Key code turned and click on set default key

and exit 3 times and wait for code to update on a $ channel.

if all fails then u can access the download section after you have made at least one post.

So you should now be able to access it.
And then reflash the box if all of the above fails.

Sorry if I sound blonde but does this count as a post so now I should be able to download or is that not correct??

And how do I flash the box is that the same as restore factory settings?

You will be able to d/l about 30 minutes after your 1st post so you should be ok soon (check your email from DK) I would advise that you d/l the tutorial by DESSERTDOG . If you press menu & system info the firmware should be 2.03 sept 2009 this is the correct (and only) firmware for the sv5,as unadkat says just go to factory settings and then rescan, all will be fine

hi mate

When u say starview 5 to me ... that doesnt tell me the model you have... and yes you can download the firmware from the download section

so you need to tell me the exact model you have before we can proceed any further.

Download the Tut as you have been advised to do read it follow it and all should be OK

I downloaded the tut followed it step by step but still majority of channels are black. The tv guide at the bottom appears says whats coming on the channel but no sound or picture ;/

revert to this firmware and see what happens

Tried that now...Still no luck. It scans the channels but most of them still black

Might as well throw the starpoo box out of the window and get a Linux mate.
