    Jtag 8882 code fix

    Hi
    Can any one help me.
Have a SV5, showing 8882 code, shop says need a Jtag adaptor.

Can you explain what it is, does and how i should fix this.

Is this a guarenttee job, as only 3months old.

Dont know anything about tech stuff, so keep it simple so a 5 year old would understand.

Thanks in advance for any help.

As far as I know there is no fix for 8882 error on sv5 (someone correct me if I'm wrong) This is caused by inserting or removing a usb device while the sv is switched on, You could try under warranty but don't hold your breathe, where did you buy it from?

      Hi
      Boxdistribution

I mailed them, they said Jtag adaptor and update firmware.
looked on net and have a link to a SV adaptor Tailor-Made Circuits

Just not sure what to do with it, might give them a ring.
      Cheers.

I thought that was only for sv4 but I must be wrong, sorry.
If you get that from TMC it will come with a disc with the loader & all neccesary files, if you haven't already got them you will also need a usb to serial adapter (if no serial port on pc) & a 9 pin to 9 pin serial null modem crossover cable.

The link they gave you is incorrect as it is a Jtag for the SV1 etc. The Max232 interface http://www.tailor-madecircuits.com/s...products_id=54 was used for an SV4 bootloader (8882) fault, it wont work for the SV5 or at least it hasnt so far given the points are unknown on the SV5.

Long shot and I am not in anyway saying use the service as I have not, (and I do not like ebay), but this guy says he may be able to help starview 5 the box usb 2 '8882' repair jtag service on eBay (end time 28-Jan-10 14:51:04 GMT)

But I would always go to your supplier first, let them give him a go

                      Hi,
Can I ask a couple of questions?
I've been loading up all the different versions of firmware for my Starview 5.They're loading fine but the paid channels are still locked. I'm concerned about this 8882 thing. Is it a permanent code that completely locks the box or does it just flash up after loading up the firmware?
                      Thanks

8882 does not lock channels at all as this just brings the box to a standstill, you need to go to menu then 1570 and go to key code and switch to on and save then exit back to tv for update.

8882 is caused by not following the correct guides to flash box

DO NOT INSERT/REMOVE USB WHILE BOX IS POWERED ON.
