I take it you have already tried replacing the fuse in the plug and checking that the socket you used is still ok??

if its a sealed plug m8 i would just cut the plug off and rewire it to a standard one, double check all leads arent loose first though

He means theres no way of accessing the wires in the plug.

Thanks erm yes there is now way, so you are suggesting to cut off the top n rewire to an english plug ? Would i have to buy an english plug sepeate or just cut off the top of a normal useless plug say the dvd player ?

The plugs have been swapped but there is still no power going through the circuit board the reason i tried for a factory reset was because it kept saying invalid box.

My dad thinks power is not the problem and something with box may be wrong.

Looks like the bootloader is dead, did you flash the box with V1.12 recently? The PSU is fine it wont boot with the loader erased.

Nope i have not touched the box with flashing or usb flashing, because there was no need.

If it said invalid box on screen over a few instances the bootloader has failed. Did you power it down completely from the main switch on the back of the box before it died?

Look at the back of the box can you see a red led light coming from the SP/DIF port?

So indicating that the PSU is fine but the bootloader is erased.

The Max232 interface could be used to fix bootloader faults on the Starview 4 but not on the Starview 5 unfortunately. I have seen a fleabay link for someone who says that may be able to fix an SV5 bootloader fault.

I never recommend these sites but it may be your only way of getting it repaired.

Here is the thread I posted the link in http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...ode-fix-97210/

is box under a year old contact supplier and see what they say
and the new firmware only came out to stop the box from dieing ,dont open up as warranty void, might have to tell them you changed the plug as you thought it was faulty.
