    New SV5 Owner Queries

    Hi All,

First post from a newbie! Took delivery of my SV5 yesterday and have immediately had teething issues in the form of it refusing to recognise my Kingston 4gb memory stick, despite FAT32 formating via XP, but being fine on my Bro's SanDisk stick?!

Also, the HDD record & pause function works OK on the first couple of attempts but then stops working, and oddly if I then attempt to record some more it appears to start, the screen "blinks" and then it stops all but free-to-air channels working (a factory default restore & re-scan sorts this). Any tips guys? Firmware is on version 2.05.

    Thanks, jas_racing.

    hi and welcome.

it is always best to use a self powered external hdd, rather than rely on sv5 power. these are quite cheap and will give the results you want, western digital work fine for me.

Good tip, the HDD I'm using is indeed USB-powered.

oh, another thing. 2.05 software is also causing a few issues, was brought ou to stop 8882 problem, this is caused by inserting usb when power is on, sv5 needs needs to be powered off when inserting or taking out usb, maybe worth going to 2.03, see if this is better. load 2.03, factory default and rescan.

Yep i agree with mark 2.03 should cure most of your problems as 2.05 is buggy m8,just do a factory reset and start a fresh with 2.03

Switched to 2.03 today and things generally run smoother and the pause/record more reliable but still had one instance where pressing record killed the premium channels & only a factory reset restored them. Gonna try a powered HDD next.
