Starview 4 USB Firmware - Clone

    Hi,

I've read through the various threads and searched, and can't find a solution to the problem I'm having - I've got a Starview 4 USB clone which has been running fine on v1.07 of the firmware, but I have started having the same problem with missing channels as posted in various other threads.

I have been through the factory reset, emu menu, etc. and then gone to a $ channel - sits there with updating message on screen for an age. If I move to Movies Sci-Fi it does the update and then gives me that channel - it will also give me a selection of other channels (apparently random).

Is this a firmware issue, and is there a newer version of the firmware for cloned boxes?

Any help / pointers appreciated, even if it's just someone to confirm that I'm wasting my time and throw it in the bin.

    Cheers,

      Thanks Boomer39,

The download page (Digital Kaos - Downloads - The Box Super USB V1.12) appears to be fairly clear that the v1.12 isn't clone friendly, but if anyone has any additional information it would be great.

Yes your issue for the moment is firmware related and V1.12 is the only way of fixing it for now, (soon V1.12 will be useless also). But as boomer and you have now said V1.12 will kill a clone box.

Are you sure your box is a clone?

is there any point in contacting the place you bought it to see what they say, when n3 comes it wont matter any way.

            Thanks to all,

95% sure it's a clone - the Max232 kit that I bought had to be modified using a stanley knife. However, given that it doesn't work, and in a short while will be completely useless, I don't suppose there is really much to be lost by trying out v1.12.

I'll let everyone know how I get on.

As for contacting the original vendor, he was a complete tosser when the thing started with the 8882 error, and when I suggested they may be cloned boxes he just ceased all communication.

            Cheers,

I've put V1.12 on a clone successfully. Has been working for a few months ok. Gone now though due to N3 I suspect.

Installed the v1.12 firmware onto the box and everything (so far) is OK (at least for the next few weeks).

Looks like there could be different revisions of the clones out there.

                        Cheers,

bin it as it does not work anymore, all new cable boxes need a lan connection to work.
