STARVIEW 5 - UNABLE TO DOWNLOAD FIRMWARE

    Hi everyone,

im really new to this starview stuff and techno stuff so im going to have to speak in plain english im afraid.

5 days ago all my channels went off on my starview 5 usb 2 box. previously it has been working perfectly. through advice (be it poor advice i dont know) i reset my box to factory settings. when i went to download the firmware file that had been recommended TheboxSuperUSB2_v2.03.20090923.BIN

    from the following website: http://www.4shared.com/get/135202340/9ec28eca/TheboxSuperUSB2_v20320090923.html

I was able to download it but as it was a BIN file i couldnt find software on the net to help me open it. I live in the south of Birmingham and have been told the dreaded Ng3 is not here yet. and on another note, my regular channels are all working now, bt would love to have my skysports and history channel. any advice would be welcomed with my thanks.

firstly mate if you have done a factory rest theres no need to install new firmware ,,,your firmware is already on ur box thats why you can get the free channels ..... you can goto menu then system information and it will tell you wats firmware is currently on ur box if u want to confirm this..wat6 u need to do is open the secret cas menu by pressin 1 5 7 0 on your remote then turn the keycode on (emulator) and then press default ok < or> on remote then exit 3 times goto sly sports and let it update .....the emulator is the piece of kit that reads the encripted chanels....... for reference to. and...with regards to future downloads ....bin files are binary files which u dont need to open u just click and drag to ur box or u cud copy n paste them to ur sv box.....files endin in rar or zip are compressed files which u need winrar to open ....u can download winrar from this sites download page when u need it but like i said i dont think u need it yet

Do not try to open the bin file, just drag & drop onto usb then install from on screen menu.

Sorry to jump in on this, I've just bought a Starview 5 box and even though the channels are loaded (I can watch the free to air ones) I can't access them. I can't seem to enter 1 5 7 0 on screen as it defaults 0157. This may appear stupid but after pressing 1570 what is the "keycode"?

Still having no joy with it.

                    Maander.
