trying to use a hard drive through usb for recording but usb keeps saying reconnect,

anyone know maybe why

only tried once to record on my starview 4 thru a usb stick but it was point less wouldnt let me change channel while it was recording and it was lagging really bad maybe you need a external powerd hard drive and if it is external maybe youve got a faulty connecter on it or the box apart from that i aint got a clue( just thought id try cause no1 had got back to u just really wasnt that helpful i know)
