Starview 4 super USB newbie query

Hi,

apologies for the newbiness of this but I have just purchased one of these from ebay, and have had not instructions or software with it.

I have managed to tune in to all my channels, but have the lil'green dollar sign on all the pay channels, what do i need to do to access these channels, again apologies for the questions, but if you guys could just gimme the basics to get me started it'll be appreciated.

I know there are other posts, but i wanteds to ensure i was getting up to date info...

I pretty good with PCs and general electronics, so dont worryu about me not understanding.

Will I need a firware update etc, anything to get me up n running would be great..

welcome to DK m8 dear oh dear oh dear havnt you heard of nagravision3 virgins new encryption ? currently being rolled out all over the country, and its a box killer, and there wont be any fix for it, search round this site for info m8 look at this post---> http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...tml#post620566 your box is ~~~~ed before you get it going, sorry. if u do get it going chances are it wont last long.

I just have a couple of other questions,

A. Im going to be spltting a cable with a splitter that is used for my modem connection, will thios affect my net speeds and connection, with the box running off the same feed.

B.Will this still be affected by nagra3, im guessing yes, any rumours of any work around in the pipeline?

and finally, will i still be able to use the box to recieve the freeview channels once the nagra 3 update has come through, or will the box be completly useless...

A can effect speed but not very often (get a good quality splitter )
b your box will only last till nag3 hits your area, google cardshare for a work around
c in the end you will only pick up channels1-5

Cheers bud, at least i can get some kins tv through it, my freeview box doesnt seem to like my ariel, although my tv with intergrated freeview picks up the signal just fine, so at least i can still get some channels with this box, only paid ?35 for it, so not the end of the world...wont be able to get other freeview channel tho, like sky sports new etc...?

virgin will encrypt all the channels eventually apart form 1-5, my box went down last week, and every day a few more of the freeview channels go, after all nothing apart from legit boxes are supposed to be connected their network, just for interest read up on starview 6 and kryptview A750/780

Would i be able to get a virgin box off ebay and plug it into the split connection so to pick up the freeview stuff?...and have it working like a standard virgin box, without having to subscribe to there contracts in order to get a box off them

there as some standard and HD boxes on ebay at good prices..

try an ariel booster...

Yeh have an ariel booster, and had a freeview box that worked fine, that fell to bits so i got a new one that said no signal, replaced that and no signal again....took the ariel out of the tv with working freeview and plugged it into the freeview box and guess what...claims theres no signal...plug back into tv and works fine...think tv sadi 63400mhz was the freeview info and strong singal strength...doin my head in any ideas why this might be?...
