starview5 8882 fix please

can anybody help ive got a sv5 box with 8882 code can it be fixed , im reading mixed answers? im a newbie to the site

hi just intersested how do ya use 8882 jtag do ya download onto usb stick /any help apprecieated dan newbie

starview 5 with 8882 cannot be repaired by you it is a return to supplier only fix normally done by not reading the important tuts of how to flash box.it is caused by inserting/removing usb
while box is powered on.

sv4 jtag is used on connections on inside of box with a null modem cable and pc with xp with com port,usb wont work.

as a newbie, this has confused me slightly. I have just received and plugged in my SV5. The panel cycles 8882....then something like 06-01. I get teh menu on screen, and do "autoscan". This takes about 30 mins....mebbe more, then i am left with about20 - 30 channels all with $ in front.....HELP!!!!

should not take that long, and if your using a splitter remove it as you should have more channels than that. to get rid of $, press menu, then 1570 and turn keycode on, then exit to scrambled channel for it to update. also you may be in a nagra 3 area, meaning it wont work, do a search for nagra 3 on here, plenty of info.

Mark, thanks for a really quick reply...appreciate it. Gonna go try your suggestion. I am in Chatham, Kent...nearest node is Gillingham I think....for Telewest....not sure. What is Nagra...is it some form of Network Auth/Security monitoring? My SW Version is 2.06 if that means anything!

2.03 is the best to have. nagra 3, this is a new encryption being rolled out around uk at this minute, wont be long and all these type of boxes will be useless.

load 2.03 any way as its better, then do factory reset, rescan and then try it.

OK....last query.... MArk what is best way to update box. I have s/w ver 2.03. Is it just a mattter of putting it on a usb stick. Turning box off. Inserting USB stick. Turning box back on. Will i be able to browse and install from there?

thats more or less it, once box is turned on, press menu, usb, select file and download.

.....did exactly that......now I have a "brick"...
At leasst before I could scan the tv and it found the sv5 signal and put menu on screen.....now, it doesn't find signal at all.

has your coax cable come out? make sure its in cable input.
