starview 6 firmware question

hi all, i was wondering do i still use the Starview 6 UK Firmware V1.00 if nag3 hasnt been turned on in my area yet (birmingham)

the bloke at the comp fair told me not to install the firmware for the lan untill nag3 is turned on is why i ask

yes it has an emulator just dont connect to lan till you have too as your 1 year sub will begin

since my sv6 box is working just fine but i have not use LAN atm - do you have to pay for 1yr sub? and how can you renew after 1yr sub?
