Starview 6 or 9600 HD LAN

I have been reading around a bit and seem to be either a little confused or just a little st*pid.... Please be gentle with me....
I have been using the Starview range for a little while now... from the original Starview through to Starview 5.... We have recently been posted our new V Card so I can see these boxes becoming door stops in the very near future...
Having read a bit about the possible options for going forward I now have a few questions which I would hope someone from here can help me with...
I am looking at purchasing either the Starview 6 box or the Starview 9600 LAN... am I correct in understanding they will both work in the same in terms of access to the V channels but the 9600 will offer HD channels aswell... I have a basic Subscription with them....
Please can you also answer a question in regards to the length of subscription with Starview.... Some people here say 12 months... some say longer.... if it is 12 months, what would happen after that... ie would you need to pay an additional subscription or would they continue the service as a bonus....
With my router located in a different room, I would need to purchase a wireless adapter for this too... are they easy to set up....
