    probs with THE BOX

    Hi all. Can anyone tell me how to re-set my reciever?
    Its THE BOX boot version 7. I stupidly re-set it to factory settings and now all my free channels are scrambled. Someone mentioned the EMU but I dont know how to get into it. Cheers all

    Hi All and smoggies 61 - I have the same problem and have lost the channel data after a similar reset.
    I bekeive we need an RS232 cable ( just made one up ) and GTROM??.exe plus the dhannel dat file.

    I'm not having any joy with the exe or the chsnnel data file.

    Have you made any progress smoggies 61

        The input of a code such as 1570 on the starview 2 operating system menu does not seem to be a starter.
        I assume smoggies 61 unit is the starview 2 by his initial comments

          I'm very sorry if I doubted your expertise

          Below is a slightly more full description of entering the "secret menu"
          After you have uploaded the software from your pc,


          Plug the box in to the TV using the usual scart lead.

          Turn on the box, press menu and go to installation,

          Select correct provider i.e. NTL, C/W , TW, CHORUS.

          Then automatic scan

          Once the channels are found, exit back to the blank screen

          Press menu (ignore what is on the screen) and press 1 5 7 0, this takes you to a secret menu,

          Go down to emu and turn it on.

          Now exit and wait for it to store all the data.

          That’s it, have fun

          This came from a zip of GTloader 4, firmware etc and yes it worked fine for me.

            Thanks for your help all. I tried turning EMU on but its still the same, System info says I have API ver 4.54 software installed(I bought the box like this) I've downloaded version 4.5 to my computer as suggested, but do not yet have the cable to upload it. I'll let you know how I get on when I get one. Cheers all.

              Forget that last one, I had my settings wrong. I re-set to factory settings, then scanned NTL, then turned UMU on and all is well. Thanks again for everyones help - I've learned a lot!

                box probs

                new to the forum and arrived here via a search to resolve my sky+ HD box issues. Constant freezing, not recording, unalbe to playback what has been recorded. If I can;t get it fixed here I'm going to give SJy an ultimatum. Either fix it or lose my ?90 + per month to Virgin.
