Follow the info devilfish has poted. Check the region code in the secret menu. I had the same problem, the main menu was set to t* as region, but the secret menu code was set different (c* I THINK). if you scroll down devilfish's posting you'll find the region code you need. GOOD LUCK

no sound is common with me after fresh install i just turn the switch at the back and leave for a couple of seconds and back on ...

worked for me before the big mess up recently
