Low quality signal.

Hi I am setting up a Starview HD Combo. I have managed to flash the box, however when I scan for channels I am getting a 27% signal and 0 Quality. I have the lead directly in the back of my modem so no splitters. Is this a cable problem or am I loading the wrong software? I loaded Grooverider_HD_Combo_+_1214.UAD then Carling+_0712.UAD.

not too sure what you are saying but the cable feed needs to be connected to the rf in on the back of your box

Thanks for the speedy reply smoggy. I have the ethernet cable plugged in to the back of my modem and into the back of the starview HD combo box. Sorry if the post was confusing but I am in a state of confusion myself. I have read that many posts about flashing the box I am unsure if I have flashed it right. I followed the sticky at the start of the forum and still can not pick up any channels.

to scan for channels you don't need the ethernet cable connected to the modem, you only need the cable feed connected to your box and you must scan on your correct provider

Smoggy your a star! I have now picked up all the channels, do I now have to unplug the cable feed and go back to the ethernet cable.

no you have to leave the feed in, you now need to connect to the internet via the ethernet cable.
these boxes get the channels the same way as the old boxes, the internet feed is to get the codes that unscramble the scrambled (subscription) channels

Smoggy thank you so much for the support. I understand it may be frustrating for the knowledgeable, however when the set up information is prepared it is done by someone with an understanding of the system. Your's has been the only information that helped me with the "simple" things such as which cable to connect and when. I do not have a long enough ethernet cable so I will buy one tomorrow or I may invest in a wifi bridge. Once again thanks for your help and support I wil certainly pass on my limited knowledge on this site if there is a need.

no problems mate, thats what most of us are here for.

you will have to set up your network connection but wait till you get your extended cable and if you have any problems come back, there will always be someone on line willing to help you.
