Help with Starview 7

Hi guys

Really need help on this,

I brought a star view 7 box and found out that I need connect the cable (white cable) and the ethernet cable to the box. However,

I wasnt aware of this and tried the enternet cable only, then I tried on the white cable without the enternet cable, It kinda worked however the main channels were locked. I have spoken to my mate and he has said, I need to conect the ethernet and white cable to it.

I am with virgin and a normal lan router connected to a wireless router. He has said I should phone virgin and ask them for a wirelss router that would sort everythig out.

But I am wondering how I would connect the white wire?

Would I need a cable spliter?

So I have the white wire go from the main to the spliter and then two white wires one from the splitter to the braodband and the other from the splitter to the startviw box ?


I have network plugs so I can insert that from the wireless router to the starview box?

If you only have one white virgin cable comin into the house then yes u will need a splitter so u can have one to ur broadband and to the back of your starview box.

I got it working, however, to gett it to were I antd, I need a wireless dongle. now Can I use my xbox 360 dongle with my starview box, if so how?

Confused but ready to learn

Hi, first poster so be gentle. I also have just purchased a SV7 and would appreciate any help in connecting it. Do I require to put anything between the cable incomer and the SV box, I would assume the router from my cable supplier is connected to the incomer and a LAN cable is fitted via the rs232 connection on the rear of the SV box. Am I correct? If I then require to connect to the internet wirelessly I would connect the Router to the wireless box and take a direct LAN feed to my SV box from the Router. Thanks if you can make out what I am trying to say

the way i connected my starview is the white virgin cable gos in to my modem,

then my ethernet cable from my modem to my wireless router thats got 4 ports,

then i connected another ethernet cable from my starview to my wireless router and it worked first time i tryed it.

also if you have a dongle or a wifi bridge device that comes with a setup cd,

you need to connect the dongle or wifi bridge device to your laptop or pc and run the setup program on the cd,

after that you can then connect the dongle or wifi bridge device to your starview than it should work wirelessly,
