    Thinking about getting starview

    Ok, hi

First of all, I want to mention that I haven't watch TV (illegal that is) since NAG 3 hit, so this would be about 6 months. I've been using my laptop and as NAG was about to hit I was doing some research on C/S but figured that's not the route I want to take as I don't want to pay Sly any money or get a 12 month subscription.

I had Starview 1 box this whole time using the cable from Vermin (which I cancelled few years back) to watch all the channels, movies etc. So since that is gone my box is useless.

Now, I am thinking about getting Starview 7 given the relative success it's been having among forums. I want to ask you all, what exactly do I need to get this box to run like Starview 1?

I have 50MB broadband so I am sure I can just stick and ethernet cord from my router to the SV7 box but what about the cable - is it supposed to be that white one given by Vermin or is SV7 a satallite only box?

    PLEASE GIVE ME ADVICE.

if you just have broadband signal strength may be capped and give you glitching and freezing on a box,you will need 2 cables a coaxial cable and a lan connection.if you had a min package signal would be higher and less prone to problems.sv7 is a cable box like the sv1 with a lan port, all new boxes have lan ports to work.do a bit more reading to see what problems they have against a kryptview 780,

box needs a cable feed to scan channels and a lan connection for the rest.

Is it possible to get a cable feed through virgin media even though my area doesnt have cable?

You need a coax feed from VM so if you don't have it then you cannot use the SV or any other cable box.

Why not ask VM for a subscription and see if they will supply you?

If that turns out to be the case why not consider the satellite options. You will find all the info you need in the Sat section, however CS info can be obtained via Google.

starview and the combo have a life of 1 year from first connection to the internet, leaves you with sat on the combo only.
