How Flash update The Box Super

Please could someone help me.
I've just bought an RS232 serial cable and tried to update the software to no avail. I just keep getting the message "Flash update Fail". As I am a novice at this, easy plain language would really be appreciated. Thanks

Correct way to flash

Connect your box to your Pc with a null modem cable, power up the box. On standby!

click on the GTROM file and press download, once your download says complete leave it another 20 seconds to make sure it is complete

That?s your box now flashed with the latest software...

Connect your box to your TV via scart lead and power up

you will now see a menu, Go onto English and press OK, Installation OK

Make sure you?re on the correct cable provider, i.e. TW, NTL or whoever it is

go to auto scan and press OK

This takes around 20 min, and after this it will tell you how many channels are found
Now press OK then EXIT EXIT

Now don?t do anything else but this

Aim the remote at the TV and press 1 5 7 0

scroll down to Set Default Key and press OK

Scroll down to EMU and turn from OFF to ON
Now press Exit Exit Exit

Go onto sky sports 1 and let the INFO UP Date which might take a few minutes

a null modem is Female to Female 9 pins, 5 pins on the top and 4 on the bottom.

Thanks once again, I have bought a normal serial cable and apparently after looking at maplins site, a null modem serial cable is reverse wired ie I have definitely bought the wrong cable. Thankyou

yes wright but a null rs 232 croses over 2 go,s to 3 / 3 go,s to 2 and 5 stays to 5, that the difference from a normal serial cable, when you have flashed go to edit channal list and deleat the list then rescan the channells,

i had problem geting some channels but when i did that sorted it out, this was on 3 boxes so far

having probs tryingto flash the box mk2 using satsmos file,can download fine but i am stuck at bin file section,a 'no file' triangle appears if i go straight to download,if i simply click on bin file nothing happens,tried entering 457Ee_ api bin,which i read from download title,but this then makes 'unnamed file'triangle to pop up. can anyone tell me what i should enter into the bin file box,also in the stb type box is [starview the box 2]ok? hanx,skingirl

when you click bin file on the loader you should get another box opening with the bin file in it ,you then double click on the 457 bin file and it will auto load into the loader then press the d/load button .
